Get Ready With Me for Kindergarten
Getting ready to start Kindergarten is a big transition for everyone in the family. Here are some tips to help with this transition, to make it fun and to help encourage your kindergartener to develop independence and confidence. These are easy ideas to practice at home, at the grocery store, at the beach, in the backyard and everywhere in between.
Registration
The Early Childhood Development Association (ECDA) of PEI manages the provincial Child Care Registry, providing families with an easy way to search and sign up for waiting lists of licensed early learning and child care centres across PEI.
Curriculum - Early Learning Framework
The Early Learning Framework assists early childhood educators to facilitate children’s learning through daily activities. It supports and promotes each child’s well-being and holistic development – language, cognitive, emotional, creative, and physical.
On PEI, it is mandatory for provincially designated Early Years Centres to use the Early Learning Framework. Click here for more information, and a link to the framework.

The Early Childhood Development Association of PEI is a provincial, non-profit organization committed to promoting and supporting quality early childhood development programs and services for our Island’s children & families.
Family Resource Centres
Family Resource Centres offer programs and resources for children and families. These include parent education and support groups, parent resources, prenatal nutrition programs, drop-in play, toy-lending libraries, and outreach for smaller Island communities.
Help for Child Care Expenses
The Child Care Subsidy Program assists Islanders with the cost of child care and daycare services for children up to and including 12 year-olds.
Early Childhood Literacy: Born to Read
Born to Read is an early childhood literacy program that promotes the joy of reading to babies and toddlers.
Universal Pre-Kindergarten
The universal pre-kindergarten program is free, optional play-based program for all Island four-year-old children.
